Leia Ginsberg became a Nurse Practitioner in 2008 and has spent her entire career working with complex adults and seniors in long-term care, assisted living, and independent living or home settings. She earned her Doctor of Nursing Practice in 2012, as well as her Masters of Science in Nursing, and Bachelor of Science in Nursing at the University of Colorado Denver. She also holds a Bachelor of Arts in Neuroscience and Behavior from Mount Holyoke College, where she completed an honors thesis and graduated with high honors. She is board-certified as an Adult Nurse Practitioner through ANCC and currently serves as the Vice President for the Colorado Society for Post-Acute and Long-Term Care (PALTmed-CO). Leia was fortunate to have her first NP clinical rotation in a long-term facility, where she quickly discovered her passion for senior care. She loves listening to patient’s stories, helping them feel heard, and acting as a medical “detective” to undercover how to meet each person’s needs and avoid unnecessary treatments and medications. During her 16 years with Optum, she worked in various roles including leadership and was part of a team dedicated to quality improvement and support for the clinicians. She is excited to be a part of an organization that is dedicated to improving patient’s lives while providing care at-home, where people are most comfortable. She loves educating and helping other clinicians to advance their knowledge and careers. Outside of work, she lives with her wife, her elementary-school aged son, and two dogs and she says her life is rarely quiet! She loves to cook, garden, and curling up with a good book and a cup of coffee. She loves to travel and notes her favorite location is the beach or Italy.
